Ask-an-Expert Online Databases and Web Sites.   The Ask the Experts web site is a perfect example of an Ask-an-Expert web site. Some web sites are listed at the end of this Guided Exploration.

Universities and Colleges   Professors at universities are generally willing to work with students and classes. The best method for finding a professor is to:  Select a college or university that specializes in the subject matter Visit the institution's website & locate the corresponding department Look for a listing of faculty e-mail addresses Send a short e-mail explaining who you are, what you're interested in, and how much time you would like them to commit to your query

Government Agencies   Government agencies are also good places to find experts. Visit the government agency's web site and locate their resource center or an e-mail list of their representatives.

  Now, let's take a look at the Ask Dr. Universe administered by staff at Washington State University.  This site is a multi-disciplinary Ask-an-Expert site designed to be used by elementary and middle school students.  This is kid-friendly and easily navigable where students can submit questions pertaining to almost any subject.
