Lonnie B. Nelson School, Columbia, South Carolina
We are the 4th grade computer club at Lonnie B. Nelson (LBN) in Columbia, South Carolina. We live in the central part of the state called the “sandhills” and our ground is very sandy. We compared our school with Central School in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
We found pine tree bark, long pine tree needles, fire ants, palmetto bugs that were not found in New Jersey. We found water and orange fruit too. We found the pine tree bark and needles because our large pine trees grow in our state. We both found spiders and sand. We found moss and New Jersey said fungus. We didn’t see any flying insects or worms.
Our climate is much milder than in New Jersey. It is November 10, 2004, and we have not had a frost.
